The Report, 2019-20 is a video animation derived frommy reading of the complete Mueller Report. Highlighting pertinent passages and compiling a list of names mentioned in the report, I create elements that interact with the 448 report pags organized in a gridded backdrop.
Forced to Flee, 2017 I met Lina for the first time in 2015 at Brandeis University where she told the story of her life in Syria where was working for the Ministry of Health and had quiet life in Jobar, an area of Damascus. Members of the ethnic minority group, the Ismailis, she & her family were forced to flee from their home after Lina was kidnapped and threatened. In the spring of 2016 I asked Lina if she would tell her story again before a video camera and she agreed. I created a suite of prints based on her story and elements were integrated into the video.
Remote Control, 2013-14 is a multi-screen video comprised of edited footage downloaded from YouTube. The original material, from a variety of sources including the US Department of Defense and WikiLeaks, documents reconnaissance and targeted engagements by unmanned aerial vehicles (UAVs) and helicopter gunships.
Warning this video contains disturbing footage of people being attacked and killed.
One to One, 2015 consists of four built structures. Fragile, delicate yet stable, these skeletal wood constructions refer to the framework for progress that women’s education can provide. The armatures are embellished with a variety of materials including one with a chalk covered blackboard inside. Video portraits of Afghan students are projected on the chalked surface.
